Moreton Rangers Football Club play on the Fields in Trust Sports Ground on London Road, Moreton in Marsh. The club is a Football Association Charter Standard Club which means we meet criteria in relation to Child Protection, Player Behaviour and Pitch Requirements.

In the past ten years the club has gone from strength to strength and now supports six junior teams from the age of five to sixteen with over seventy local youngsters taking part. We also field two adult teams. Our first team have made the step up to the Hellenic League and currently play in Division 2 West and our reserves last season gained promotion to the Witney & District Division 1. A large number of our adult teams are players that have come up through our youth system. The club is also in the process of establishing its first ladies team ready for next season.

The club are very proud that we develop young leaders in the community. Over the past few years we have supported a number of local players who have passed through the junior ranks to become coaches themselves and act as a role model to the next generation of footballers. This has included paying for their coaching courses and supporting community aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards that they have taken part in. We have been recognised for this work with a grant from Gloucestershire County Councils Active Together Fund.

For the club to move forward and continue this success we are fundraising for more facilities at the sports field which are essential for the teams to progress to a higher standard of football.

Work is currently in progress to provide a clubroom. These enhanced facilities will help all our teams both adult and junior. At present we are limited on what food and drink can be offered to visiting teams, supporters and guests. The clubroom would offer the option of somewhere to meet and get refreshments. The club would also benefit from the additional income this would generate to reinvest into club funds to reduce costs for all of our players.

At present we have the pylons for our floodlights which from local research show they have been in place since 1972. As you can imagine these need to be updated to meet modern and Hellenic League specifications. The lights themselves need to be replaced and the electrics reconnected to make them functional again. We have estimated costs of £15,000 to get this work done.

The benefit of having a floodlit pitch means all our teams can train at our facility in the town. The current situation is that players are travelling to locations around the Cotswolds to find suitable training facilities. We would be able to host evening matches during the winter months and offer the facility for other local teams to use.

With the first team now playing in the Hellenic League the provision of working floodlights and a clubroom is a requirement for the team to progress up into Division 1 and hopefully the Premier Division. Once these requirements are met and promotion is gained the team has the possibility of playing in the preliminary rounds of the FA Cup which would be a huge achievement for the club.
