Awards Night Dinner - The Winners

May 15, 2017

With the season completed Moreton Rangers enjoyed an end season dinner at The Manor Hotel in Moreton. The club uses the evening to celebrate the season with awards to the players and special awards to those who work hard behind the scenes.

This year the Chairman’s Award this year was presented to Mr John Currill who as groundsman at Moreton Cricket Club looks after 3 football pitches for Moreton Rangers Junior Teams. His continued hard work in cutting and rolling these pitches mean that they are in pristine condition and the envy of visiting teams.

Club Chairman Paul Luker said “John gives up a great deal of his time to tend the football pitches , without volunteers like him the club would have to pay for the pitch maintenance which would mean higher subscriptions for all”

First Team Coach Nick Timms reflected on the season and encouraged all to learn the lessons from this season when the last couple of months the results cost Rangers the chance to be promoted.

He also thanked all who worked tirelessly behind the scenes  to support the team including  grounds man Bob Noctor, Craig Payne who does a multitude of jobs for the team and  Mandy Timms for sorting all the teams paperwork. The supporters had been great this season and once again local business had backed the Club, in particular Mike Honour Widows for the Clubroom work, R&W Walker Butchers as kit sponsors and the Black Bear Inn for hosting the team after games, on race nights and transport to cup games. Dave Groom  was thanked for his efforts with the reserve team when they were struggling and helped with the presentation of their awards.

The awards for the teams were:
