Club gets Charter Standard Award Again

March 6, 2019

Moreton Rangers have once again been recognised by the F.A. as the only Charter Standard Development Club in the North Cotswolds. This award recognises the work of our brilliant volunteer coaches who devote hours of free time to develop our junior teams from the age of six to sixteen. Delivering Coaching sessions learnt on F.A Coaching courses (done on their own time) so that our young players become part of the coaching pathway now promoted by the F.A. They aim to produce rounded team players who enjoy the game and play to the best of their abilities.

Club Chairman Paul Luker added his praise for our Coaches “I can only thank our coaching team for their dedication to the club, producing some fine football in a friendly and respectful manner. This puts the club on a strong footing for the future with countless players form our Junior section now playing in our adult teams with more to come in the near future “

First Team on Top

Moreton Rangers First team increased their lead at the top of the Hellenic League Division Two West when the beat second place Wantage Town 3-2. Goals from Dougie Wallace, Martin Tomes and Jamie Wyatt put Rangers six points clear. The following Saturday they travelled to Chalford in Stroud for the Gloucestershire County Senior Cup semi-final. The game ended 0-0 with Oliver Currill in the Moreton Goal saving a penalty in normal time to set up an exciting penalty shoot-out that Moreton won 4-3 with Lee Brooks striking the winning penalty.  This has set up a North Cotswolds derby in the final between Moreton and Bourton Rovers at Cirencester Towns ground on a date to be confirmed.

The last game of the Season will be on Easter Sunday 21st April at 2.15pm at London Road verses Aderbury Park. This game is part of a non-league ground hoppers weekend where devoted football fans travel around visiting grounds on a weekend when the league arranges three games a day at different kick off times.
