Big Crowd for Newport Game
A bumper crowd of over 200 turned out on Friday 12th July to watch this match to celebrate the bond between Moreton and Newport that was forged 30 years ago when the London Road Ground hosted the exiled Newport Team at their lowest ebb.
Moreton Rangers were again supported by R&D Walker Butchers who put on a Pig Roast and BBQ for the supports and players to enjoy along with the new kit sponsored by them. Without this continued support of local business then club would not be the success it is.
The game itself was a tight affair between two evenly matched sides and Rangers were unlucky not to take the lead in the first half and had a strong penalty shout turned down. As both sides rang the changes in the second half Newport scored with 10 minutes left and held on to win. The Friendly Cup that had been competed for by Newport and Moreton for the last time in 1993 was then awarded to Newport by Moreton Rangers Chairman Paul Luker.

Fair Play Award for Juniors
At the recent Witney and District Youth Football League AGM, Moreton Rangers Juniors were presented with an award for Fair Play. This recognised the attitude and respect that our teams show in competing in games and it is credit to our coaches and players for playing the game the right way. Club Chairman Paul Luker said “It is a proud moment for the club to be recognised for showing fair play, it shows that we are not only teaching player’s football skills but also sportsmanship and respect for the opposition, officials and supporters.”
Craig is top Linesman

At the Uhlsport Hellenic League AGM last month club awards were presented to many involved with the league. Moreton Rangers were pleased that our assistant referee Craig Payne who has run the line for the First Team for many years was recognised as Club Assistant Referee of the Season by the League based on votes of other clubs and referees. Congratulations to Craig who not only runs the line but also does a multitude of tasks at the club behind the scenes to help with the smooth running of the club.
